Sod Turned in Claregalway

Coolsivna Construction recently ‘turned the sod’ on a 14 house development and 300m2 Day Care Centre in Claregalway village. The ceremony was carried out by Noel Grealish, TD in conjunction with the very generous Mattie Cormican who donated the site. The project is expected to be completed in 12 months.

Description: 2740m2  16  Classroom New Extension , 1087m2 Double Height Stand alone  PE Hall Building and  2829m2 Full Refurbishment of Existing School. All construction was carried out while existing school was a live environment. Extension Includes Library, Offices, Kitchen, GP Hall, Meditation room and 2nr. Toilet blocks. Finishes include Vinyl Flooring, Tiiling, Suspended Ceilings and   Whiterock wall covering. External Finishes  inlcude Kingspan Roof Panels, Cedar Cladding , Hard and Soft Landscaping. Project Completed 8 weeks ahead of  Programme.

Galway. Building to be completed in 2 phases so as to accommodate the day to day running of the existing school.

Galway City Mosque

Description: The design, assisted by the London based Muslim Architects, achieved the orientation of the Prayer Hall to Mecca within an octagonal form, while meeting the requirements of the Muslim Community regarding access and services for the use of the building as a Culture Centre. The elevations were designed to gently express the function and cultural purpose of the building, with the dome and minaret being the important signature features. The dome floats on a ring of glass and light reflects from the minaret opes. The external finish consists of smooth cut limestone and natural hydraulic lime render giving the building a unique finish. It shows a timeless classical elegance, a combination of traditional and contemporary, blending Muslim and Gaelic features to generate a welcome to all at the Mosque of Mary in Ballybrit, in accordance with the Ahmadiyya motto, Love for all Hatred for None.

 

 

Nursing Home Extension

Description: Project involved the building of a 1600m2 extension to an existing nursing home, consisting of new bedrooms, ensuites, day rooms, swimming pool, reception, shop chapel and hairdressers. There was also considerable work to be done on upgrade of existing nursing home which involved a huge amount of liaising with management and moving of patients to different areas in order to complete upgrade work. Roof of existing nursing home needed to be completely stripped and re slatted.

Pairc na gCon

Role of firm in delivery of Project: Main Contractor & PSCS

Description: Pairc na gCon is a 23 number housing development consisting of 7 no. detached houses, 10 no. semi-detached houses and 6 no. terraced houses.
Coolsivna Construction acted as PSCS, and oversaw all aspects of construction, including liaising with design team, connection of all services (ESB, Eircom, Water, Sewer and public lighting), and ensured Health and Safety on site was always of a high standard.
Many of the houses incorporated many new aspects of construction for that time including multi zone underfloor heating, solar panels and very high levels of insulation.
Difficulties of construction included a high water table and a deep main sewer running through the site.

Mountbellew NS Extension

Description: 350m2 extension to an existing National School, which consisted of 2 class rooms, a resource room, secretary’s office and relocating of the main boiler house. All work was completed within 5 months and performed during part of the school year which meant considerable attention was given to the fact that children were using the school at all times. The existing boiler house needed to be decommissioned and moved to a new location without interfering with the day to day heating of the school.
