Mungret Community College involved the construction of a new post-primary school for Mungret Community College with a floor area of circa 11,380m2 over three-storeys with rooftop plantroom at Caheranardish, Mungret, Limerick. The brand new school sits on a 10 acre site and caters for up to 1,000 students, making it one of the biggest schools in the region.
The new building, spread out over three levels, features 58 teaching spaces including 33 general classrooms, two specialist autism classes, two design and communication graphics rooms, six science labs, two art/craft rooms, two home economics rooms, a technology room, two multimedia labs, a music room, a textile room, two construction studies rooms, an engineering room, a library, a PE hall and fitness suite, multiple ancillary spaces. The site development works included a new site entrance and internal road with set-down area, site lighting, car parking for 90no. spaces, drainage, covered bicycle stand, six ballcourts, playing field, landscaping, new boundary treatments on a circa 10acre site. The school building was designed and constructed to achieve a minimum A3 BER and designed to meet Part L regulations.
