The new facility will provide a modern purpose-built headquarters and training centre for Roscommon Civil Defence and archive facilities for Roscommon County Council. The building provides a state-of-the-art training, administrative and welfare facilities for Roscommon Civil Defence staff and volunteers as well as providing a large appliance bay for Civil Defence volunteers, the works also involved the provision of a climate controlled archive facility for Roscommon County Council.

The new building will also facilitate a greater capacity for Civil Defence members to engage in all-weather training and storage of specialised Civil Defence vehicles. The works involved the provision of a large secure training yard and a covered boat storage facility. Site development works involved new roads, paths, and paving, site boundary treatments including security fencing and entrance barriers, along with all hard and soft landscaping works.
